Alessia Redwine
Alessia is a sophomore at the University of Colorado majoring in business administration. She serves as a member of the Women in Business organization, Black Student Alliance and the Vice President of the CU Community and Leadership group. Her aspiration is to lead a major organization as a CEO.
Timothy Davis
Tim is a student at San Jose State University majoring in Business Advertising. He was a member of the Black Student Union and Executive Council.
Adrianna Brooks
Adrianna attends Texas Southern University, one of the largest and most comprehensive HBCU in Houston, TX. Her four-year plan is studying abroad in her junior year and passing the bar to become a lawyer.
Faith Boles
Faith is a student at Xavier University in Louisiana, the number one university in the country for advancing African American students to medical school. Faith is a Biology Pre-Med student pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree. Her goal is to become a practicing physician.

Kortnee Solomon
Kortnee Solomon, who is a 4th Generation Cowgirl that does many things such as Ladies breakaway, Ladies Barrel Racing, poles, straights, and goat tying. She is a little cowgirl that has won many championships and has huge aspirations for the future.

Tristin Martin
Tristin graduated from Thurgood Marshall Academy High School. She will be attending Albany State University (HBCU) in Albany, Georgia. She is working on her bachelor’s degree in business administration with plans to graduate in the Spring of 2026.
2023 MLK Rodeo Awardees
Weston Blake Carter
Weston is currently a freshman at Murray State College majoring in Agriculture Communications/Safety. He has been competing in down calf roping since he was six years old. He recently competed in a rodeo in Las Vegas.
Denesha Henderson
Denesha is a student at Prairie View A&M University persuading her master’s in business administration (MBA). A portion of her undergrad work focused on Agriculture Science. Denesha has participated in the Bill Pickett Invitation since 1995.
Kennedy Johnson
Kennedy is a senior at DSST Green Valley Ranch High School. He is active with the Black Student Alliance. Kennedy will attend Morehouse University in the fall of 2023 persuading a bachelor’s in finance and business administration.
JB Collins, IV
JB is a student at Hills College majoring in Agriculture Business graduating in the spring of 2023. He’s a member of the Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo Association.
Lindon Demery
Lindon’s family is embedded in the rich history of the Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo (BPIR). He’s motivated to never give up by his oldest brothers who participate in events with the BPIR.
Jermaine Walker, Jr.
Jermaine is a 4th Generation Cowboy with the Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo following in the footsteps of his grandfather. His long-term goal is to win a world title and build an arena in his grandfather’s name.
